Tourist resort Živogošće is placed on the southern part of Makarska Riviera, with distance of 80 km from Split and 120 km from Dubrovnik. Živogošće consist of several parts: Porat, Mala Duba and Blato are situated just by the sea and old places Murava and Strnj are at the foothills of Biokovo Mountain for a long time.

It is known that Živogošće has been inhabited by Illyrians and Romans, to which Illyrian tombs on top of the hill Suzina stand as witnesses. On the very coast above Pokrivenice spring, Licinianus epigram from 474. year before Christ had been carved into a living rock and it is the specimen of classical literature which consists of 16 Latin hexameters. In it, the Roman questor Licinianus celebrates the spring of fresh water which flows even now. As a settlement, Živogošće had been mentioned in the middle of 13th century for the first time.
